How we are helping
In the past two years the Corey C. Griffin NHL Alumni Pro-Am has raised over $1.2 million for Boston Children’s Hospital Pediatric Head Trauma Unit. These funds have been used to:
Double this funding by generating preliminary data for successful grant writing
Develop antibodies that, in animal models, appear to prevent Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE)
Study new cutting edge therapies for Traumatic Brain Injury, using light emitting diodes
Published results on over 30 studies about TBI
How the money is allocated
Corey C. Griffin Community Outreach Program Fund
A formal baseline concussion testing program supported by physicians and allied health professionals collaborating with schools to offer free baseline testing to eligible students. Currently, over 145 schools in Massachussetts are currently enrolled in this program, providing free concussion baseline testing to over 20,000 students statewide.
Corey C. Griffin Brain Injury Research Fund
This new fund will specifically support pilot grants in all areas of brain injury research. Applicants will be awarded one-year grants to implement proposed projects.
Nine Concussion Research Fund
Supports current research efforts including antibodies that, in animal models, appear to prevent Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE). These studies will soon translate from animal studies into human trials.
